Scholarship FAQ

You  were awarded a travel scholarship to attend CC’s Global Summit in Lisbon, congratulations!  Here are a few questions you might ask that we can answer:

How will I receive the funds?

If you returned your countersigned agreement and filled out the banking form, your wire transfer was made in the last 8-10 weeks.  You should have received a notification from the Bank of America when it was sent. If you did not receive your bank transfer, please reach out to summit@creativecommon.org who will follow up with you.

What do I do with my receipts?

According to the scholarship agreement, you should send your travel receipts to accounting@creativecommons.org

What if I can’t come because I can’t get a visa?

Please contact us immediately if you receive a visa rejection so we can evaluate whether to reapply or not. If you cannot attend the event due to visa issues, you will need to return the funds we transferred to you.

I was awarded a hotel room. Where’s the hotel?

The hotel is My Story Tejo in Lisbon, Portugal. If you need a confirmation number and notice for your visa application, please reach out right away.  Otherwise, we’ll communicate more details on this soon.

You can check in on May 8 and check out on May 12.

How do I know if I get a hotel room?

It says in your scholarship agreement letter.  If you are in doubt, reach out!

Can I bring a friend to share my room?

No, we’re sorry, you cannot bring a friend. Many of you will have a roommate and the room will not be large enough to accommodate an additional person.

Who is my roommate?

Do you have someone you want to room with?  Please reach out and let us know! Otherwise you will be randomly paired with a person of the same gender identity.

Do I need to register?

Yes, you must register for the event here so that we have your details on file. You do not have to provide a credit card number. Use the code WOWLISBON100 to get 100% off your registration fees.  Please do not share this code. If someone uses the code who is not a scholarship recipient, their registration will be void.

If you have already registered using a promo code from the program committee, there is no need to register a second time.

What meals are included?

Breakfast and lunch will be provided May 9-11 at the venue.

How do I indicate my dietary restrictions?

When you register, you will be asked for your dietary restrictions.

Is there anything CC is doing surrounding Ramadan?

For those observing Ramadan, we will have a dedicated prayer space at the venue. On the Friday evening, we will be hosting an Iftar.  If you indicated that you are observing Ramadan on your registration and/or application, we will communicate the location and details to you soon.

When will I get more details on logistics?

We will send out more info on how to get to the hotel from the airport and more in the coming weeks.

For all other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Alison & Mari at summit@creativecommons.org – even if you just want to say hello 🙂
