Arts Proposals Timeline
The deadline to submit a proposal is 19 Feb 2020 – 11:59pm EST (-5:00 UTC)
Selected presenters will receive notification in early April 2020 (subject to change).
Things to Note
The 2020 Summit will introduce an array of arts programming. As we build out this program, the needs may change depending on space, time and budget constraints. We welcome all creative and artistic expressions, including but not limited to:
- Posters / Graphic Design / Editorial
- Installation / Multimedia / Digital Art
- Hardware (prototype) / Product Design
- Video / Documentaries / Cinema
- Performative Arts
- Other (mixed media, multidisciplinary)
CC licensing of your work is not mandatory.
The art will be displayed at the official Summit venue, therefore the audience does not include the wider public.
We cannot be held responsible for damage to the art/work in transit or at the venue.
Funding for Presenters
CC has limited funds to offer scholarships to participate in the Summit. We prioritize participation of contributing community members, but recognize that some who wish to present will require subsidy. The online form asks potential presenters to indicate if a) they have applied for a scholarship and b) if funding is a determining factor in their acceptance of a presentation opportunity. The acceptance of a proposal does not guarantee funding will be awarded.

- Creators of the Commons – The faces, work, and stories of those building the Commons
- Powering the Commons – Exploring the tools, technology, and communities that power the Commons
- Open Education and Open Scholarship – Supporting communities that practice open access to education and scholarship
- Open Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums – Improving and expanding open access to cultural heritage
- Policy and Advocacy promoting the Commons – Strategies for legal action and copyright reform
Please propose a title for your work. We may change or edit it with you later. (maximum 120 characters)
Please provide a short description for your session that could be read as part of the summit program. (maximum 600 characters)
Preference will be given to sessions that incorporate voices from diverse backgrounds and/or different global communities. How does your session accomplish this? (max 600 characters)
We hope to fill the Summit program with sessions that lead to collective action – the more concrete, the better. What outcome / actions are you hoping to achieve with your work? (maximum 600 characters)
Please provide a longer description with any and all information you would like us to know about your work, the topic, and what it will entail. (maximum 3000 characters)
Tell us about the size, shape, duration and any other space/time requirements. Please be as detailed as possible.
Please outline any technical requirements to exhibit your work such as the use of computer, projector, electrical access, etc.
Let us know the scope of setup for your work: timeline, number of people needed, tools or materials required, etc.

Creative Commons is committed to helping you have a successful journey to attend the Global Summit, but if you attend you will be responsible for obtaining any necessary visas or travel authorizations, as well as paying any associated costs.
